What is iLEAD
Alternative Preparation for Educational Leadership Certification – Tier I and Tier II
The Metro RESA iLEAD program is a PSC approved Alternative Educational Leadership Certification and Preparation program for school and system leaders. Systems recommend potential candidates who are working in a leadership position for at least half a day every day.
The term leadership position refers to those positions requiring leadership certification as determined by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. The iLEAD program is a one year job-embedded program providing authentic work in a real time setting. Metro RESA is an approved provider for both Tier I and Tier II certification.
Alternative program for Leadership Certification
Tier I & Tier II
Rigorous one-year programs
Dedicated Support Team
Each candidate has a personal supervisor and mentor
Tier I Certification – entry level leadership positions that include P-12 school level positions below the principal and system level positions that do not supervise principals.
Candidates who successfully complete Tier I of the iLEAD program will be recommended for an Educational Leadership Tier I certificate. Applicants are required to be in a leadership position for at least a half day each day to be admitted into the Tier I program. Full-time teachers cannot be admitted to the Metro RESA Tier I iLEAD program since it is a job-embedded program and requires candidates to complete leadership experiences during the day.
MRESA will host two Tier I summer cohorts. Each cohort will begin with a week long course on the “Essentials of Effective Leadership, Tier I.” This course is offered in a hybrid model; face to face at Metro RESA and online. Any changes to the delivery model will be announced. The first cohort will attend Essentials from June 21-25, 2021 from 8:30-4:30. The second cohort will attend Essentials from June 28- July 2, 2021 from 8:30-4:30. Candidates will select their preference of the two cohorts when applying. Please make sure you can attend all course dates for the cohort you prefer. Candidates from outside the Metro RESA service area, who also extend beyond the surrounding Metro districts, should contact us regarding our capacity to serve you based on your geographic location.
Tier I candidates will also participate in weekly seminars on Wednesday evenings from September through the beginning of May. Most of these seminars are online from 7:30- 9:00 pm. Five of these seminars are face to face at Metro RESA from 4:30- 7:30 pm. Attendance is required.
